I had about a year ago promised myself not to preach a message dedicated strictly to the problems in our nation. And for the most part I have tried to keep my promise. But I am afraid that this morning I am going to break that promise I made to myself. I have tried and tried to not preach this message this morning but I cannot get away from the leading I feel to preach it. So, if this is what the Lord wants me to preach then I am going to preach it. I know I will be preaching to the choir this morning but I must speak what has been given to me to speak. I call this morning’s message Casting, Casting.   Let’s Pray!

In our new series in the Psalms, as you read them, you will notice that there are many prophetic passages along with many warnings from God. Psalm 2 is one such passage. But this morning we will not be looking at Psalm 2; but instead we will hear a warning from God directed to us as a nation. On one thing, I think we can all agree; left right, black, white Christian, atheist. This country is in a mess. Never have I seen such hatred and division between such a great number of our people. Fighting and accusing each other for starting the mess we find ourselves in. We had a march of so called white nationalists and KKK and Alt-right persons marching in opposition to the removal of monuments deemed offensive by some and deemed historical to others. I don’t know who the alt-right group is and I don’t really care. But I am white and I believe in America first. So, does that make me a white nationalist? I would never march with the KKK, and I don’t know enough about the alt-right to do anything with them. But I too believe that what the Black lives matter and the Antifa group and the socialist on the other side wants to do is to blot out anything historical, or not, that might cause them anxiety. It sure is strange that these monuments have been there for many years with no outcry at all. Some might ask why? But I know why! I am not smarter than anybody else but I have been told what the problem is in America today. We have different sides attacking one another and tearing this nation apart with their hatred and animosity against the other. This is not a problem that started a few weeks or even a few years ago; but is a result of a problem started many years ago. When we as a nation started to withdraw ourselves from the calm and repose of God in our society. Even during the race riots and the fight for integration from great men like Dr. Martin Luther King when blacks were treated badly and jailed and kicked and punched and set on with dogs. There was a calming and settling resolve to work within the framework of the Biblical principles of turning the other cheek and loving your enemies. Thus Dr. King professed non-violence amidst all the tumult of those days even giving his life for non-violent confrontation. But today his ways are gone. Why? Because this nation has slowly but surely made its way to the list of countries that have forgotten God. It has been a steady progression but it has arrived. It has become a nation looking for politicians and leaders to rule and reign in the affairs of this country without regard to what God wants. The last President made it clear when he stated that this nation was no longer a Christian nation and therefore not privy to keep or obey the ways of God or Jesus. This is not just a Democratic concept but a Republican one as well. Now after removing the Bible and God from our schools and our society we can now go after the constitution and our history and then when these are toppled the nation will have nothing else to rely upon for guidance and security but the government and the socialist way of life.

The word casting has so many different meanings. It can be used in the movie industry to mean the members of a picture the cast, The casting director etc. It can mean a way of voting. In the Bible, it says that the disciples cast lots to see who would replace Judas as an apostle. We are still said today to cast our ballot or our vote every election cycle. Casting also means to send out. Like for a sports caster giving a blow by blow of a sporting event. But casting also means to throw. Like casting a horseshoe or casting a net or casting a line and lure while fishing. Those people today who are screaming at each other and calling each other names and are now throwing rocks and bottles and urine at each other do so because they all have forgotten Jesus and his words. The words that say: Let him or her who is without sin cast the first stone. We as a people have become so ignorant of God’s words and Jesus’s words in the Bible that we forgot that Jesus told the religious crowd at that time who wanted to stone to death a woman taken in adultery this prerequisite. Jesus said to the men there if you are without sin then you may cast the first stone. Then they all went away because they knew that they were all sinners. You see today these people don’t remember that we are all sinful and deserve to be stoned. We are all sinful and deserve to not be remembered in history. But Jesus said to cast a stone you must first be yourself without sin. Today they have said to Jesus we don’t care what you said, we are going to go ahead and cast stones. And that is exactly what they are doing. They don’t see themselves as sinners even though God says that they are. In Romans chapter 3, a quotation from the 14th. Psalm says: As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues, they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: (boy does that sound like today or what) Their feet are swift to shed blood: Each side today desires the death of the other. Death threats are even directed toward our President from other members of our government. Destruction and misery are in their ways: Burning cars and busted windows. And the way of peace have they not known: There is no peace today only one conflict after another. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Sounds just like these groups who are fighting today on all sides. Romans 3:23 says: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Every one of these people have sinned and none are good they all fall short of God’s glory. And yet while back in Jesus’s days the men dropped their stones and went home; here today in America there is no fear of God and the stones are being cast. These people have also forgotten that Jesus came to this world not to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. If anybody had the reason and the ability to destroy the world it was Jesus. After what they did to him in rejecting him and crucifying him. But he didn’t die a terrible death and rise again so that men could be condemned, but that all men and women might be saved through him. These people today have substituted for Jesus, men and women of the government. It is now they and they alone who knows what is right and wrong for society. It is they and they alone who can pass out judgment according to their determination of guilt or wrong doing. It is only they and they alone who can save our country and set us on the right path. These people have made themselves God. Next these people have forgotten true compassion. Compassion for all not just for those who believe the same way that they do. They have forgotten Jesus’s command to love one another. Jesus even stated for us to be blessed we need to even love our enemies. These people from all sides are in direct disobedience to Jesus’s command to love everyone. You don’t have to agree with everyone that would be impossible. But you need to love one another and not hate them and want them dead as we have been reading in the media from both sides; their desire for others to die rather than to love them and work together to understand what and where each side is coming from and work towards ways of reconciliation. The instigators of this hatred, are the agents of the devil for they are in direct contradiction to Jesus and the word of God. They are to be shunned and not listened to. They need to be called out for their subversion and lies. When a nation becomes controlled by hatred instead of love, their days are numbered. This nation became the nation it is today by adhering to the spiritual character found in God’s word. But now our character is based upon the works of flawed mankind and we expect to see a goodly outcome? Man is flawed and God is perfect. But when God is out of the picture then sinful man now becomes his own God and his reign will be spiritually dead and socially unfulfilling. Another Biblical aspect forgotten by these different sides is the commandment of forgiveness. Many times, in scripture, we are told to forgive one another. In Colossians 2:13&14 it says: And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; In Jesus, we can be forgiven for he nailed all our trespasses to his cross and when he died he took them out of the way. Jesus forgave us, and we need to forgive others. Ephesians 4:32 says: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. We are called upon to be kind and tenderhearted forgiving others the same way that Jesus forgave us. We see no kindness in the words of these subversive groups from all sides no tenderness, no forgiveness. Jesus forgave us as we came to him. We need also to forgive those who come to us. In the Lord’s prayer, it says: forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. When we are trespassed against we are not to retaliate in like manner but we are to be kind and tenderhearted and forgiving. These groups of people have forgotten the Lord’s prayer. They have forgotten forgiveness. Then another thing that people today have forgotten is that vengeance is mine saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 says: Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. We are told not to take it upon ourselves to avenge a wrong done against us but rather or instead give place unto wrath or throw away wrath because someday God in his vengeance will repay all those due repayment. God will have a day of payback. We are not to do payback to others. Jesus will inevitably judge everyone and those who deserve payback will get it to the nth. degree. But not only will individuals receive their due so too will nations that have forgotten God. Isaiah 17:10&11 says: Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: But the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow. The nation that forgets God will believe that they are doing just fine for a while. They will grow and prosper. But when it comes time for the harvest, there is nothing left but a heap and then there will be grief and desperate sorrow. Psalm 9:17 says: The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. These people and politicians from both sides who are tearing this nation apart and who are full of hatred and animosity instead of love and reconciliation are leading this nation over the edge with God. And if God judges us be it known, that it will be a righteous and terrible judgment of desperate sorrow; for we were once a nation whom he loved and cared for but when time for judgment is come, then we will be forsaken for we have forsaken him. This message comes as a warning to those who would deny God and his word and would lead this country astray and as a call to believers to stand for Jesus and stand for God’s word no matter what may come. Pray for revival and God’s healing of our land. Pray for our leaders that they might have their eyes and understanding opened and take this warning seriously. And let us all as sinners stop casting stones.
